With the rise of the global wine industry we have started to see challengers to Champagne's crown, these usurpers have steadfastly moved towards the throne of the best sparkling wine, with a determination of rightful heirs, in the land of value for money.
Even upon these shores we have some outstanding examples of sparkling wine producers like Nyetimber, Chapel Down who are beating Champagne vineyards in blind tastings.
Susy Atkins is a well-known, award-winning wine writer and broadcaster. She writes the weekly 'Sauce' column for the Sunday Telegraph, and is wine editor for Delicious magazine, as well as appearing regularly as wine expert on BBC1's Saturday Kitchen and Channel 4's Richard & Judy.
Susy is author of ten modern, down-to-earth books about wine and drinks in general. Two have won major awards.
